The female fae are now permitted to wear skirt like coverings but they must of course wear full and proper underwear. These are not silks and use of that term for them should be avoided.

Now you can’t of course put a male fae in the same outfits – they would look a bit silly. A form of kilt would work better – with gaps in it to tease and entice (which is what fae are masters at). The problem with these sorts of kilts is that they are all very dull and do not suit the fae look.

I therefore decided to start work on my own creations. This is my first serious attempt at any clothing for well over a year. All my previous attempts were less than impressive. I’m the first to admit that my skills in making system clothing suck. I can never seem to get those damn seams to line up!

Anyway, I am planning to release a set of colourful male kilt outfits. They will have system gloves / bracers, an open waistcoat, underpants and of course the prim kilt itself. My first will be in a light blue and this will be followed by other colours…

I am pretty happy with the prim work so far. I need to complete a bit more detail and add accessories suitable to a fae. This should all be completed by the end of the week for the prototype. The system clothing will take a bit longer. I need to spend a lot of time working on getting the alphas and seams just right. The base texture I am using should allow for some nice colourful trim to be added which will help a lot on the seams. I may even try and make some full length pants.

Now I am of course making for myself first and foremost but I will also be putting my creations up for sale! I will have to run these under new vendors specifically for clothing – lumping them in with furniture is just not right.

Actually getting products ready for sale will take a few weeks – I have to get the prototype done and then retexture it with the different colours.

Fae are magical beings, blessed like the elves with being amongst the fairest of looks in all the lands. It is this elven link that gives the male fae his look.

The term “fae” covers a physical look itself. One of finely defined features and grace. No matter what gender they are, fae know they are the most beautiful beings of the forest. They adore teasing others especially humans and drow who are much more reserved in their dealing with others.

Now if we consider male fae on their own we have an interesting situation. They are male yet by their definition they are also fae – hence magically pretty. Yet, in Avilion fae regularly rush into battle which is at odds with the slender, pretty boy fae idea.

However – this is because you are thinking of the male fae as a pretty looking human fae with wings plonked on his back. In truth of course the male fae is a magical being with strength and vitality far beyond his slender frame. Comparison to the more bulky humans is understandable but flawed.

Now this pretty look also conjures up questions of sexual ambiguity amongst the pretty male fae. This is of course quite natural. Again this is people trying to impose human labels upon another race. I have mentioned in previous posts that it is my thought that fae are not “born”. That also means that they do not reproduce through sexual union (this does not prevent someone being “half-fae” as this can be a magical union).

Given that sexual contact is not for reproduction in the fae race means that it either does not exist or it is purely for pleasure. Now we all know that fae adore flirting and anything pleasurable. This naturally means that sexual contact for them is (in their natural habitat) as normal and simple as dancing. Again a reality check is needed here – fae are not humans and in their natural habitat not bound by the morals of humans.

As sexual contact has nothing to do with reproduction this also blurs the strict male-female unions that are generally accepted in the lands beyond the natural habitat of the fae. It is my belief that you simply can’t label any magical fae with sexual tags applicable to humans. Fae are lovers of all things, firstly their own kind and then other humanoid or semi-human beings. Love for a fae is intense yet it is something that can be shared with many of any gender.

Fae that have been around other races have grown to understand that their ideas of “free love” are not generally accepted – particularly in the often hostile and highly moralistic lands dominated by humans. Their numbers dwindle as they are portrayed as immoral and evil being by an ever growing powerful church.

So that’s my take upon the pretty fae, their flirting and how in the real world this was their downfall.

If a fae came face to face with a glowing portal for example they’d not rush off exclaiming that a mysterious glowing portal had appeared. They’d first stare at the pretty lights and after a while, when it has done nothing but look pretty they’d get bored and go seek something much more fun.

I am under the impression that the fae are a magical race, eternal in life. I consider that these beings are not born like human babies are – a new fae enters the world fully formed and knowing all they need by the sheer magic of the race.

There are no fae children. There is no such thing as childhood. Fae do not grow up. Fae do not get old. Fae simply do not age – ever.

When you are at the drum circle don’t stand there like a statue – dance. You have not seen many statues of fae as they don’t stand still long enough.

A happy by product of this is the fact that it makes the place much more welcoming to visitors than walking into a circle of people just standing around seemingly doing nothing.

Oh and if you do not know the three barrels on the table by the tree is the dance machine. If you see other people being boring (like those dull drow) then let them know how to dance and encourage them to do so – but do not pester them.

Sisters, if your skirt barely covers your panties then for heavens sakes wear a longer skirt – we really have no desire to have your underwear flashed in our faces as you dance. Speaking of underwear – make sure it actually covers the front and back bits! There is nothing worse than losing your appetite because someone in flashes panties made out of a single strand of string.

My brothers need to be sensible also. We are fae and should really look it – that means we are handsome but also pretty – finely defined features for example. You can’t just take a human, glue some wings on them and then say “I’m a fae now”. I guess that’s why there are so few fae males.

Brothers please also be aware of colour! Remember that in nature the male of the species is the colourful one and the female is rather drab. Now our sisters are far from drab so that means we must be even more colourful! But for goodness sakes please try and avoid the psycadelic style outfits – they really do clash with just about anything.

Things have moved on a pace in and around Avilion also. There was of course the excellent Relay For Life of SL a few weeks ago. The event never fails to be a moving one.

When I logged back in to SL after a weeks absence I was shocked by the state of my inventory on both Tan and Sharl. I started with Sharl and got rid of all the inventory that he will no longer use – clothing, weapons, structures. Whilst I may have paid for them I know I’ll never use them again now. Tan is going to be next – time to prune that vast wardrobe and also to quit buying more of it!

I’m going to continue with my little bit of SL (land I mean) but cut back on all other SL expenditure – I need to save more each month as I’m intending to go on a foreign holiday next year. This will not impact upon my life in Avilion one bit as I have all that I need there already.

I was particulary touched to read of all the kind thoughts that people had over my illness. This gave me just what I needed when I was really feeling low. This is what is so great about the community of Avilion. My thanks to Rosemarie for passing these on.

They started by claiming I must be a lesbian and then they went on to say some things which I will not describe as they relate to a third party.

This was all done very quickly and by the time I had typed my first reply the cowardly person had logged off.

Now I have been called a great many things in my time but never a lesbian – probably due to the fact that I am a man I guess. I really could not care less what a complete stranger decides to call me – I was called all sorts of names by my own father before he walked out on the family years and I’m mature enough (now) to not let such things get to me.

What did hurt though was the snide little comment they passed on to me about a person who I know. They had no need to say such things about the person and I rightly filed an abuse report against them under deformation of character.

Now I happened to be in Avilion at this time but the person who sent the IM could have been anywhere in Second Life but they clearly know of people in Avilion. It is my thoughts that the person who sent the IM is actually an alt of someone and they want to hide.

This disappoints be a lot. I love Avilion because it is a land that embraces the rich diverse nature of the world for only by doing so can we all become what we truly wish to.

Sexuality or the gender of the person behind the avatar is (to me) irrelevant. I am a very tolerant and understanding person but bigotry is something that I will never condone. If the person had an issue with a member of the community then they have made a great mistake. I react poorly to people who talk behind others backs and get others to fight their battles for them. Had they spoken to me like an adult and raised any issue or concern with me, adult to adult, then I would be done all that I could have to assist.

Sadly in SL we have many young people and many older ones who are simply not emotionally mature. We shall not give in to these people though.

I am, and always shall be proud to be a deviant for being normal is so boring.

For those who really care (not that it matters to me for I am the same person) I have loved and still love both men and women. I have been nearly “married” twice, once to Karen and the second time (much more recently) to Joe. Karen and I are still dear friends (she is on her third husband now). Joe and I are on speaking terms as long as it does not involve money as he still owes me a considerable amount.

My current relationship status is single though I share a house with two dear long term friends and we are a lot closer than many married couples. Oh and two dogs of course!

I’ve been through hell in my life, first from an abusive father who nearly destroyed the family then from small minded “friends” because I dared to be different. There are times I wish I could do it all again now for in 2009 it is a lot easier than it was when I had left college in 1984. 25 years has changed many things for the better – it is a shame that some folks in SL are stuck in the past.

Now consider my alternate character within Avilion – Sharl Darkstone.

Sharl became a knight in February 2008 – one of the last before the squire programme was introduced. He does not do much combat but he does supervise CTA’s and attend the knighting ceremonies.

I consider it unfair of me to keep Sharl as a knight if he is not active in being a knight as they were intended to be played. By that I mean taking part in CTA’s, training others in combat and running classes. It would be hypocritical of me to speak of getting the rogues to be active and yet sit by with an inactive knight.

In reviewing this I have made what some may consider to be a very obvious discovery. Having an alternate character is all well and good for role-play purposes but nobody can devote the time necessary on two characters who are in combat classes.

Squires work damn hard to get their knight title and full knights who are not active within the knights group shame these squires and tarnish the shining beacon that is knighthood.

It if for the above reasons that Sharl removed himself from the knghts today.

Sharl will very much continue to be a part of Avilion. I need to be something other than a fae at times and he is that outlet
